Essential Infrastructure Bill
We worked with Robert Halfon MP, then Chair of the Education Select Committee, to move legislation that would classify schools and educational settings as Essential Infrastructure: The Schools and Education Settings (Essential Infrastructure and Opening During Emergencies) Bill.
This law would have protected children’s best interests and safeguarded their futures by introducing a ‘triple lock’ to ensure that any decision taken to close schools follows the recommendation of the Children’s Commissioner, is agreed and voted on by a majority of Parliament, and is strictly time-limited.
